A Seamless, User-Friendly Flight Booking Experience That Makes Finding Cheaper Flights Faster and Effortless
Redesigning the End-to-End Flight Booking Journey to Simplify Discovery, Surface the Cheapest Fares Instantly, and Boost User Retention
I contributed to the full product design process, from prototyping to final web layouts, to create a cohesive, user-centric experience.
For BookingTrolley.com, I redesigned an inconsistent and fragmented flight-booking flow into a smoother journey from search to results to booking, improving usability and conversion.
Worked as the Solo UI/UX Designer, collaborating with a team of developers to design and deliver the product within a 1-month timeline.

By analyzing BookingTrolley.com alongside its competitors to evaluate the overall user experience across platforms. The findings revealed that the existing design lacked a mobile-first approach, despite the majority of users relying on smartphones for flight bookings. This resulted in a poorly optimized mobile experience, significantly increasing bounce rates and drop-offs. Additionally, the desktop version exposed several usability gaps, including inconsistent flows and friction in key booking steps. In contrast, competitor platforms delivered seamless, well-optimized experiences across both mobile and desktop, leading to stronger user retention and a more efficient booking journey.

Streamlining the flight booking process into a simple, easy-to-follow experience.
User research revealed several critical issues impacting the overall experience. The platform lacked a mobile-first approach, despite most users relying on smartphones for flight bookings, resulting in a poorly optimized mobile interface. In addition, complex and fragmented user flows made it difficult for users to navigate from search to booking, increasing friction and cognitive load. Inconsistent branding and UI patterns across devices further disrupted the experience, creating confusion and reducing trust. Together, these factors led to a disjointed cross-device experience, ultimately leaving users frustrated and more likely to abandon the booking process.
My Observations
A complex and fragmented journey increases user effort at every step. This slows decision-making and leads to higher drop-offs during booking.
Cheap flights are not clearly highlighted, making them difficult to discover. Users spend more time searching, slowing down their decision-making process.
Inconsistent UI elements and branding create a disjointed experience across screens. This reduces clarity and makes the journey feel less intuitive and harder to navigate.
During the initial phase, I collaborated closely with the BookingTrolley team to identify gaps in the existing wireframe flow, uncovering the need for a simpler, more intuitive experience to reduce user confusion and improve engagement. This insight led to multiple iterations of the wireframes, continuously refining the flow until we arrived at a clear and optimized booking experience.
The Budget-Conscious Traveler

The First-Time or Occasional Traveler
Struggles with complex flows, unclear fare breakdowns, and lack of guidance during booking. Needs a step-by-step flow with clear pricing and a guided, user-friendly experience.
The final product was a redesigned flight booking platform that enabled users to find and book cheaper flights significantly faster than before, directly aligning with the client’s primary goal. The experience was optimized through a simplified end-to-end booking flow, improved mobile usability, and a more intuitive interface that reduced friction across key steps.
Key features were enhanced to deliver better price visibility, faster comparison, and a seamless journey from search to booking, resulting in a more efficient and user-friendly booking experience.
What set the solution apart was an experience defined by simplicity and speed, enabling users to book flights with ease—earning strong client appreciation.
The client shared the designs with stakeholders and a group of existing users, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from both audiences. They particularly appreciated the simplicity and ease of navigation, highlighting how the redesigned experience would help them achieve their goal of booking flights faster and with less effort. The clarity of the flow and improved usability were seen as major improvements over the existing platform.
Several users also noted that the new design would make the booking experience feel significantly less stressful and more enjoyable once developed into a fully functional web and mobile application. The overall response reinforced that the solution not only addressed key usability issues but also created a more delightful and efficient user experience.
We really liked using Booking Trolley—finding cheap flights is super easy, and the whole process feels smooth and straightforward. No confusion, just quick results and easy booking.
This project taught me the importance of simplifying and decluttering the design process to create a more user-friendly experience. By reducing unnecessary complexity and focusing on clarity, I was able to help end users save time and complete tasks more efficiently, resulting in a faster and smoother booking journey.
It also reinforced how timely delivery and effective client communication play a critical role in shaping the final product. Regular feedback loops and clear collaboration helped align design decisions with business goals, ultimately influencing how the product looks, feels, and performs in a meaningful way.
